What's happening? The Oldtique Store is closing up shop? But it has never even opened! 😬

Yep, it's the end of the road for Fabulously Small. I will keep it up, but I won't be adding new posts. And of course the final post on my blog should be illustrated with a closing of some sort, and that's where today's scene comes in.

... well, the year of course ;), for starters. But there's something else, more on that very soon (for real this time 😬, I'm in the process of wrapping it up: almost ready to go).

Oh my god, is that..........? Yep, it is: the belly of a haunting little beast 😊, a.k.a. the inside of the Oldtique Store! What's a few lot of years between miniatures, right?

Well, not much really - if anything - but in this case: they're making an appearance in the same miniature-scene 😁

So, what is going on here? Looks like someone's having breakfast with fresh coffee, fried eggs, tangerines and doing some work in the kitchen.

Okay, something's up. Let's investigate...

Commotion in the Park (BREAKING NEWS)

While we had left the park on that lovely summer's day, something happened later that afternoon that shook the entire neighborhood... [it's weird why this 'breaking news' took so long to break though, lol 😁. I thought I had already added this post, all photos and text meant for this one have been ready since early August!]

Looks like the Oldtique Store owner just left a bit of a mess after her park lunch, right?

 
But she wouldn't do that, and definitely wouldn't leave her favorite cardigan behind! So something's up, but what?

12th scale park-bench picnic for one

A summery scene on a really nice summer's day, here in the Netherlands anyway. Taken by the Oldtique Store owner (who oddly has no name nor face, haha 😁) combining her visit to the park with some lunch.

A great opportunity to showcase some things I haven't before, like the gorgeous pinkish-purple foxglove created by the lovely Carla Zandvliet I fell in love with at the Arnhem Fair in 2017 or 2018 (the plant, not the miniaturist 😉). The hamburger, tempting not just 12th scale people's senses but mine as well (you'll find a close up further in this post), is from the vèry gifted Tristatin (Etsy; looking up the name to be able to share here I just discovered they are no longer selling, unfortunately...)

cr(e)ating the old to make space for the new

When something is late for one occasion, it may be just in time for another. Well, that's what I decided it to be in this case 😉.

Do you like Christmas as much as I do? I love it! As well as a great opportunity to get out some things I had not yet used with some newly found and made items. I hope you enjoy!

how about the rustic coffee-table? It's a slab of petrified wood of which I put the unpolished side up for that natural look.
I couldn't finish the turning wheels (see my post Flower Hour), so I made easy legs for this scene (the are looped at the bottom)

too big for comfort?

Hey there! I've been making little steps of progress the past year with the working blender and the scene to present it in when finished: I só look forward to be able to make a real miniature smoothie!! 😋 It's just a simple (scrapbook+printed on cardboard) mock-up type scene (see all the way down for some overview shots), since it's just to showcase a miniature. Because we'll need a bit more patience for the blender, I thought it'd be fun to show one of my kitchen miniatures I really like, while I always enjoy having a little photo-shoot. And any excuse to take out awesome miniatures from my stash and see them in a scene ;).

But although the scene is sure to not pass any building regulations (please don't report me to the 12th scale building commission 😉), I think it still looks pretty cool and fine for its purpose. The espresso machine though? Well, turns out that's a ...

Wow, that's been wayyyyyyy too long! Again... 😊 Buttt... I didn't forget about this place, in fact, I've really wanted to post stuff, but same old story. And you know how I like to find ways to do something without needing much, soo..

.. a while ago I thought of something that translated into something miniature that's simple and doable for me and maybe interesting enough and worth sharing. To me anyway. Took a lot longer to be able to photograph and it's not even summer anymore, but it's spring in our southern hemisphere and isn't that like summer's foreplay? ;) And I think it's just fun, if only to see some of my treasures displayed in a scene and maybe also for anyone of you still around 😇.

yes, finally! this display has been ready for years, including this blogpost about it, but I really wanted to show the scene - well technically it's 2 - at once and still needed to make the lampshade and finish the legs of the 'glass' table. Both required things I could not do until recently and wanted to take advantage of that of course. Enjoy!

like others I felt like a new bloglook and this is it!
I love how easy it is to make or change the whole look of your blog with just a few clicks. 'Cause despite all it's flaws and irratic behaviour I think Blogger IS a wonderful platform :D (despite smiley, I am serious). And no, Blogger (or Google) did not pay me to write that, just thought to start of the new year nice ;).

lacey lace

I'm not a very lace-y person, although I like it sometimes, but in miniature: I just LOVE it! And what's an antique store without at least some lace, right? However, lace that can be used for miniature is hard to find. And for as far as I know there aren't any miniaturists that sell handmade lacework. Even if there would be, it would be quite expensive, since lacemaking is meticulous and takes a LOT of time! There's also just so much that can be replicated realistically.

makeover fridge

yes, yes, as mentioned in the preview of this recently, I'm só guilty of wandering off with this :D.

but it was guiltfree and great fun. Yesterday I could finally finish two things for this scene that had been ready for a while, but I hopelessly failed at that, haha. Won't be able for a while to do it the right way, so here it is without after all. You won't miss them and I'm so satisfied with the whole scene that I don't either :D.

calm before the storm

hi dear mini-friends from all over the world ;) One of my caretakers was quite impressed with having followers all over the world, but I explained this sounds more special than it may seem. Just being a logical consequence of being online AND miniatures being a small world as it is. Making it a 'big-world'-thing because of it!

not being able to proceed on other things, I started two simple/doable but nice things shortly after the books, which were almost ready to show not too long after. But a bit much Ripley's-believe-it-or-not (unnecessary and beyond my control, read: people/doctors not listening etc) in RL got in the way of things again, so they too have been lying still altogether for a while now.

so for the time being I thought it'd be nice to give a heads-up of what's coming.

to read or not to read ...

.... well: not to read it is! I definitely like it that some miniaturebooks are readable (I have one or two saved in my files to make someday), I think it's great and fun. But realism eventually always wins 'in my book', pun intended :D

I made the Animal Farm book last week, with the one I made a little while ago this makes two complete (meaning with text inside) modern-mini-books, woehooe :) ! They have doublesided printed pages on very thin paper. I will also make more of the kind I used in my last scene (blank pages), 'cause it's not necessary at all to have all books like this, would be kind of crazy too right? ;)
