Commotion in the Park (BREAKING NEWS)

While we had left the park on that lovely summer's day, something happened later that afternoon that shook the entire neighborhood... [it's weird why this 'breaking news' took so long to break though, lol 😁. I thought I had already added this post, all photos and text meant for this one have been ready since early August!]

Looks like the Oldtique Store owner just left a bit of a mess after her park lunch, right?

But she wouldn't do that, and definitely wouldn't leave her favorite cardigan behind! So something's up, but what?

Oh oh...: yellow tape, that can't be good!

Curious neighbors like to know more too.

Get this: the local news picked it up pretty soon; as one of the boys always riding his bike in the park, came forward as a witness with some info, and better yet: photos:

An crocodile alligator? Yes, a crocodile an alligator, I was pretty surprised too (or was I...? 😉)

The boy was still pretty shaken up, even though he was at a safe distance (he zoomed in quite a bit) but when the crocodile alligator had suddenly noticed and looked straight at him, he almost lost it. It's why the photo on the right is not the sharpest. But pretty darn good given his startled state, right?

Then, when the large predator slowly passed the bench, it made an unexpected move in his direction. This startled the boy só much, he couldn't hold his phone steady anymore causing that very shaky left shot* 😊.

The big question is: did the crocodile alligator eat not only the hamburger, but also the Oldtique Store owner?

Or did it just scare her away? Maybe she did get injured in the process and simply unable to come forward from her hiding place yet? I really hope so! (the still in hiding part that is, not being injured of course)

And where did that crocodile alligator come from?

Ah, I just heard it escaped from the zoo.

well, the actual news story was in Florida, the crocodile alligator breaking open a fence to enter a golf course,
if I remember correctly, but the 'photos' (stills from a video) are just too perfect to use here ;)

Which does make the most sense, as we don't have crocodiles alligators (ór crocodiles lol) roaming wild here in Europe.

On the other side of town we find another town bench in a more peaceful setting, enveloped in the scent of lavender.

jeezz, what's with that banana peel in front of benches? hahaha 😁

Another place, another woman, another bag – while this lady is eating something healthier ;).

the purse and planner are made by an amazing artist I bought these from at
the Arnhem Fair (or was it the temporary-in-Apeldoorn one?) years ago.
A lovely lady I had a great conversation with but whose name I can't remember...

[*which interestingly enough wasn't easy to create btw, it took me several attempts taking the photo while shaking my camera to get it right, lol]

Okay, thát was unusual for me, lol. And it started as a super basic idea, for just one photo...

I had simply noticed my 12th scale crocodile alligator again, passing it multiple times every day in my hallway where it's in a shadowbox with a selection of my miniatures. My eye usually catches the sparkles of a 12thscale 'diamond' necklace, or something else more on my eye-level, but so I do see the crocodile alligator regularly as well.

isn't it cute? Well, for a crocodile an alligator that is 😁

And even though nothing else moves, I love how its mouth actually opens.

And b/c of the park-scene I thought it would be a fun idea to take a shot of it there: having caused a scare, eating some of the garbage, or maybe a miniature person 😲. A short-and-sweet (and a bit dark) miniature wink of sorts.

ONE-PHOTO - well maybe TWO to have another with the coke bottle in its jaw - was all I had in mind, hahahhaha 😂!

Yeah, nothing's ever 'just one ...', 'just a small...' or 'just a quick/easy...' etc with me, is it? Nope, I think my blog kind of illustrates that well 😊. And probably a quirk most miniaturists have :), as we're creative kind of 'addict's'.

So one photo became several, and then I decided to include a few other items I also pass daily, like the resin figurines & dogs and the 'miniature-scene-do-not-touch'-tape from my post 'miniature Scene - do not touch'

(which was never for any actual scene and not really to scale; but it still works, sort of).
And since photography is something I really enjoy, it became its own quick little shoot.

Et voilá my mini-friends, that's how the idea for one simple photo became a short story.

Inspired by you I guess Betsy 😇. I think you have a gift for story telling, I've really enjoyed yours over the years and some of it might have rubbed of on me 😉. And since you are such a loyal follower, you'd at least come across it, so I like to see it as being in your honor.

I hope you enjoyed, but I've had a lot of fun with it!

Oh, and the good news: the crocodile alligator was captured shortly after, phew!

source: joe.co.uk

And of course I have got hold of (ie made) some photos after it was captured:

and it is nót happy........

The Oldtique Store Owner was fine btw. She was found, very shaken up and in kind of shock, understandibly, but she wasn't physically harmed in any way. And she is getting the help to overcome this and is particularly helpful with this type of experiences.

So all is well, all things considered 😉.

Have a great day everyone!

And watch out for both crocodiles and alligators hahahaha! Well, if you live near the Everglades or some other part of the world where these pre-historic – greatly misunderstood but still dangerous – animals live, then that warning is to be taken quite serious of course ;). But then I'm sure (I'd certainly hope so) you'd be aware of that already

  1. Dear Monique, I am so touched that you felt inspired by my habit of storytelling! :):) As for this story, I think it is Fabulously done! That there was a real escape-artist alligator (um, crocodile), only makes it so much more fun! Your scenes are really well done... and I know all about the shaky camera problem... or the blurry field of focus problems! You made it a realistic part of the story! Well done! LOl! I am sure I appreciated this most right now at this alarmingly Scary time of year (we are struggling over here to stay sane...!) The "captured beast" photo really made me laugh! :):) Please keep up with the stories, the photos and the Fabulous minis... I love having company in this increasingly empty blogland. :):) BTW your crocodile with the movable jaw is awesome! :):):)

    1. Hey dear Betsy! It's so lovely to hear from you, especially since you were the inspiration for making this idea into the story it became! And thank you, I am so pleased to hear that :D! Oops, was the escapee an alligator? I am so sorry, hahaha, I know there is a difference, but I never know/always forget lol. Right?! I thought so too! Can you imagine seeing an alligator bending the fence and see it worm its not very elegant body through it? It's kind of crazy! Mark Twain's "Truth is stranger than fiction" still holds true and very applicable here (I would have had a hard time believing if I hadn't seen the video)

Wow, thank you so much once again for all your kind words and compliments, I truly appreciate it sweetheart! And I'm so glad the unintentional looonnngg delay made it more timely for you. Hang in there with all that's going on and don't let the news spinning their stories get to you (too much), they have a knack for painting the scariest pictures to keep people hooked on news. It's not healthy or very realistic with what's actually going on behind the scenes... Or were you referring to Halloween? ;)

Hahaha, I had a lot of fun with that (simple but effective) scene and I am so happy I could make you laugh Betsy, I really am. And yeah, with those flapping jaws, I needed to wrap it shut tight of course! Lol :D. And I'm so sorry it has gotten so quiet in the blog-o-sphere, what a shame...

I'll visit your wonderful blog soon (unexpected stuff tends to get in the way a lot, but I hope and have the intention tomorrow) and see what wondrous creative endeavors you've been undertaking. Bless you dear one, thank you again for stopping by and your wonderful comment, it means the world to me!! Much love, Monique
