12th scale park-bench picnic for one

A summery scene on a really nice summer's day, here in the Netherlands anyway. Taken by the Oldtique Store owner (who oddly has no name nor face, haha 😁) combining her visit to the park with some lunch.

A great opportunity to showcase some things I haven't before, like the gorgeous pinkish-purple foxglove created by the lovely Carla Zandvliet I fell in love with at the Arnhem Fair in 2017 or 2018 (the plant, not the miniaturist 😉). The hamburger, tempting not just 12th scale people's senses but mine as well (you'll find a close up further in this post), is from the vèry gifted Tristatin (Etsy; looking up the name to be able to share here I just discovered they are no longer selling, unfortunately...)

look what I found (and made)! joy to the world, in 12th scale ;)

Do you like Christmas as much as I do? I love it! As well as a great opportunity to get out some things I had not yet used with some newly found and made items. I hope you enjoy!

how about the rustic coffee-table? It's a slab of petrified wood of which I put the unpolished side up for that natural look.
I couldn't finish the turning wheels (see my post Flower Hour), so I made easy legs for this scene (the are looped at the bottom)

take a (miniature) seat

Hey everyone, I'm back with something that actually belongs on this blog 😉, but thank you so much for your wonderful and supportive comments on my last post, it means a lot! Because I needed something a bit straight forward for now I recently started a miniature chair I've wanted to make for years. After one I've had myself that I still love and although I plan to one day make one just like it, for now I'll make a green leather version.

furniture peace

nope, not a typo, just a little play on words ;). Since this piece of furniture was the easiest many-part-miniature I ever made. Still had some challenges, but that's okay. I love those anyway and nothing crazy. (update: none of the comments had been published until just now (20th of August) because for some reason I don't get notifications in my e-mail anymore..😠, the mysteries around my blog continue haha!)
the observant visiter or this blog will notice that the right end corner of this photo is a bit off. It's where the mdf-corner this setup is in ends, as well as the wallpaper that's folded over it ;). Since there's still no Oldtique Store, but this is the set-up it it will be in, as in the wallpaper, a wooden floor and the chair will probably be there too.

I love that it's just a bunch of wood I had laying around - old paintstirrers, tonguespatula's, coffeestirrers, wood from an old

big in small

no fiddly stuff this time :D yay! Well the drawerpulls were a bit to make, but very doable. This is even a huge miniature for me to make, hence the title. As you can probably imagine I really wanted something a little lot less nervewrenching after my working fan and this was just perfect! Not finished yet, but it takes a bit longer than I thought and felt like showing the progresss since you saw it last, a long looong time ago ;).

I'd not been able to finish it before because, besides a number of other reasons, the midsection had quite a curve. That I didn't really know

let's talk rustic & vintage, with a hint of industrial

yes, finally! this display has been ready for years, including this blogpost about it, but I really wanted to show the scene - well technically it's 2 - at once and still needed to make the lampshade and finish the legs of the 'glass' table. Both required things I could not do until recently and wanted to take advantage of that of course. Enjoy!

industrial
the 'hint of industrial' is of course the lamp that I made for this display and will go to the Oldtique Store-to-be. I have one like this myself and I thought it be great to make a miniversion of it. I'm not

I'm feeling a bit green ;)

nope, not seasick :D. But as you might have noticed this scene, as did my last two, has a green background (although the last and this one not very noticable, while they're quite green in person), so I guess I'm a bit in a greenzone. I've always loved green, mostly the mossy and olivekind of shades, but never used it in mini-scenes before recently. I like it!

the wooden fruitbowl - it's maple - is not what I had in mind for this scene as you can see below. But remembered having it again and finally having some fruit because of that other bowl, just wanted to try this one out too. It turned out I liked it even more..

two-piece scene

last year I've shown a small squared sneak-peak of this almost finished and now it is!

scenes don't get more sober than this I guess ;). But I think it has all it needs.

calm before the storm

hi dear mini-friends from all over the world ;) One of my caretakers was quite impressed with having followers all over the world, but I explained this sounds more special than it may seem. Just being a logical consequence of being online AND miniatures being a small world as it is. Making it a 'big-world'-thing because of it!

not being able to proceed on other things, I started two simple/doable but nice things shortly after the books, which were almost ready to show not too long after. But a bit much Ripley's-believe-it-or-not (unnecessary and beyond my control, read: people/doctors not listening etc) in RL got in the way of things again, so they too have been lying still altogether for a while now.

so for the time being I thought it'd be nice to give a heads-up of what's coming.

windowscene with a fun detail

hi there again my dear minifriends, I hope you are doing well. I've got some positive news (I'm now confident it's not just an occasional-upswing): I'm doing better finally! Some treatments I started, one months ago, another one last week, are definitely kicking in. Meaning I've - mostly - got more (muscle)strength, air (!) and energy and I feel a little bit human again! And so I've put another little scene together the past week, just because I could :D. This time using my mdf-corner with the window in the windowopening it came with (I've always just stuck a 'wallpaper' and fireplace in front of it ;). Nope, unfortunately not my view (although mine is great too!), just a printed one, nice hey?

desk-scene

nothing new, just throwing together some old items in a new setting, in front of a printed brick wall. 'Cause I like that ;)

babysteps

not that I've taken any other kind before, but the past 6 months it's the pace of a sloth in hibernation too :) . I was finally able to do some little things lately however and today wanted to test the lights of my laptop because I still needed to before I can go on. But they don't do a thing, zilch, noppes, nada, no-thing... at all.. :(
