rest in peace Fabulously Small...

What's happening? The Oldtique Store is closing up shop? But it has never even opened! 😬

Yep, it's the end of the road for Fabulously Small. I will keep it up, but I won't be adding new posts. And of course the final post on my blog should be illustrated with a closing of some sort, and that's where today's scene comes in.

the end of...

... well, the year of course ;), for starters. But there's something else, more on that very soon (for real this time 😬, I'm in the process of wrapping it up: almost ready to go).

Oh my god, is that..........? Yep, it is: the belly of a haunting little beast 😊, a.k.a. the inside of the Oldtique Store! What's a few lot of years between miniatures, right?

furniture peace

nope, not a typo, just a little play on words ;). Since this piece of furniture was the easiest many-part-miniature I ever made. Still had some challenges, but that's okay. I love those anyway and nothing crazy. (update: none of the comments had been published until just now (20th of August) because for some reason I don't get notifications in my e-mail anymore..😠, the mysteries around my blog continue haha!)
the observant visiter or this blog will notice that the right end corner of this photo is a bit off. It's where the mdf-corner this setup is in ends, as well as the wallpaper that's folded over it ;). Since there's still no Oldtique Store, but this is the set-up it it will be in, as in the wallpaper, a wooden floor and the chair will probably be there too.

I love that it's just a bunch of wood I had laying around - old paintstirrers, tonguespatula's, coffeestirrers, wood from an old

big in small

no fiddly stuff this time :D yay! Well the drawerpulls were a bit to make, but very doable. This is even a huge miniature for me to make, hence the title. As you can probably imagine I really wanted something a little lot less nervewrenching after my working fan and this was just perfect! Not finished yet, but it takes a bit longer than I thought and felt like showing the progresss since you saw it last, a long looong time ago ;).

I'd not been able to finish it before because, besides a number of other reasons, the midsection had quite a curve. That I didn't really know

fan-tastic challenge

hi my lovely people, long time no see, hope you're doing well! I'm able to enjoy the small but for me big joys of life the past 5 months again which is (like last year) the reason miniatures have had to take a back seat even more than ususal. But that doesn't mean it's of my radar! Thanks for your patience and for me not falling of yours ;), I truly appreciate you being here.

I wanted to wait until finished, but too excited about it, so I'd like to show where I am with the latest

the evolution of an idea - floorplans

recently I made a digital floorplan of the Oldtique Store to replace the messy pensketches I had, and add the latest changes in the design at the same time. I thought it would be fun to see how different it is now from the very first idea and how it was inbetween.

staging..

..to see 2 new miniatures in a setting. A perfectly made cocktailglass or chalice of very thin glass with gold and a great porcelain jug with bowl - both from Art of Mini, makers unknown. The cabinet you might remember from my post 'Mock up Oldtique Store', a gift for my birthday last year. I like the style for the store and although it's a bit too orange to my taste, I think it's a nice contrast to my wallpaper and floor.

okay okay, the candalabra really should be kept on the floor at all times.. I had thought it would be nice on a piece of lace on the cabinet, didn't think about it further and hadn't thought of it or noticed it's out of proportion. But hey, can't think of everything and I still like the scene!

bit's 'n' pieces ;)

what do you do when you have nothing to show, notthing of substance that is? you show some things in progress. Because that's what we bloggers do in times of need, right?

the bags are from folded decal with magic coating. this way I could get the thin luxurious feel of the kind of bag I like for my store that couldn't be achieved with paper.

mock-up Oldtique Store

because the Oldtique Store is still nothing more than the entrance and stuff to put in it, I really felt like seeing what it will look like. So I recently put together a supersimple cardboard mock-up.. meaning a folded piece of cardboard and some folded pieces of card with prints of the wallpaper and a (out of scale) brick wall taped to it.

antique art with a twist

hi y'all, it's good to see you!
Yay, I have something to show, something I've had much fun with; it's  3 'old painted' portraits, but not just any kind.

old, older, 'oldst' ;)

hello again my dear minifriends, I'm so glad you're here! It's pretty quiet here isn't it? But not in my head, where lots of old and new (mini)ideas are always floating around, giving a nice ring to my mind and something fun to focus on. And since a couple of weeks I can even do a little here and there and I'm hoping to finish and show some items soon, can't wait!

what I like to show you now and I'm very excited about is some old stuff; really, REALLY old. I've had them a while now and wanted to show them when I had been able to make simple displays for them, but that might take a while because I want to do the other things first, so here they are!

to cheat or not to cheat?

not back yet, I just remembered an idea I was very enthousiastic about months ago (still am) and had not thought of showing yet, until now. 'Cause when I ordered the EL-light at Microstru for my laptop in January, I also ordered one of their kits for an amazing 1:144 scale house. Because every selfrespecting antique/old stuff shop should have an antique dollhouse right? And besides that it's a house I kind a fell in love with, it also seemed a very doable and realistic kit.

This lovely kit comes from Microstru - Millers Engineering

du main, du fin, du mannequin

the title probably makes no sense to you (or at all and translates horribly), but I thought it to be a nice twist to a phrase of a Dutch commercial for french cheese, which is 'du pain, du vin, du Paturain'.

having fun with antiques

it's not how the Oldtique Store is going to look like actually, although I really like the atmosphere of it. So maybe I'll look if I can order more of this scrappaper I used for this setup instead of the wallpaper I have for the actual store... For now it's just to play around with some of the miniatures for the store I collected the past years, giving me an idea of where I'm going.

babysteps

not that I've taken any other kind before, but the past 6 months it's the pace of a sloth in hibernation too :) . I was finally able to do some little things lately however and today wanted to test the lights of my laptop because I still needed to before I can go on. But they don't do a thing, zilch, noppes, nada, no-thing... at all.. :(

writables & Christie's mug

some props that will accompany my minilaptop. You don't think that laptop will ever come, do you? Ha, you wouldn't think so, but it really is, I promise.

what I cán show you is a little pen, two markers and a mug I made Or to start the scene with, as is maybe more the case ;) The writingpad I made a few years ago, just needed to flip the front over, torn out a few pages and add a 'written' page. It has notes about taxes, as that's also what the laptop is 'busy' with.

little teaser

Hi there! For now I want to show you the setting where I'm going to present my laptop to you, as a little teaser, hence the title :).

cups 'n' saucers

first I'd like to welcome all my new followers that joined over the past months: so glad you're here & you're so WELCOME! I'm grateful you think my work is worth following, it makes me very happy! :D I'm doing my best keeping up with your blogs and try to react, although I don't always since there's so many, but you're doing great things!

January 16, 2013

door handle

just a little something. Because I had to finish some 'gummyfrub' (mold-making stuff) that was almost past it's expiration date and I had recently been looking at our doorhandles (and decided that I would like to make them for the toiletdoor in my Oldtique Store) I decided that's what I would use the 'gummyfrub' for along with some other items I wanted molds for. But had to make the handle first :)

please, come in !

well.. actually there's nothing to come in to yet, but you're welcome anyway because the entrance of the Oldtique Store is finished! Had been for a couple of weeks, but needed some finishing touches which I could finally get to.
