Commotion in the Park (BREAKING NEWS)

While we had left the park on that lovely summer's day, something happened later that afternoon that shook the entire neighborhood... [it's weird why this 'breaking news' took so long to break though, lol 😁. I thought I had already added this post, all photos and text meant for this one have been ready since early August!]

Looks like the Oldtique Store owner just left a bit of a mess after her park lunch, right?

But she wouldn't do that, and definitely wouldn't leave her favorite cardigan behind! So something's up, but what?

12th scale park-bench picnic for one

A summery scene on a really nice summer's day, here in the Netherlands anyway. Taken by the Oldtique Store owner (who oddly has no name nor face, haha 😁) combining her visit to the park with some lunch.

A great opportunity to showcase some things I haven't before, like the gorgeous pinkish-purple foxglove created by the lovely Carla Zandvliet I fell in love with at the Arnhem Fair in 2017 or 2018 (the plant, not the miniaturist 😉). The hamburger, tempting not just 12th scale people's senses but mine as well (you'll find a close up further in this post), is from the vèry gifted Tristatin (Etsy; looking up the name to be able to share here I just discovered they are no longer selling, unfortunately...)

some flies you catch with vinegar rather than honey - (tiny) experiment

Wow, that's been wayyyyyyy too long! Again... 😊 Buttt... I didn't forget about this place, in fact, I've really wanted to post stuff, but same old story. And you know how I like to find ways to do something without needing much, soo..

.. a while ago I thought of something that translated into something miniature that's simple and doable for me and maybe interesting enough and worth sharing. To me anyway. Took a lot longer to be able to photograph and it's not even summer anymore, but it's spring in our southern hemisphere and isn't that like summer's foreplay? ;) And I think it's just fun, if only to see some of my treasures displayed in a scene and maybe also for anyone of you still around 😇.

it's about the fly catcher as you may have guessed from the title

find the differences

I just have to share this with you, it's too funny. Well sort of.. ;p. The miniature babyhats on the photo's below are the same one.... :D. Yes, they are. At least according to the miniaturewebshop-owner. The reason she says I think I got a different one than I ordered is just because of the ribbon in the right one....
yeah right, and I'm a dinosaur with a tiny brain :D haha!

it's a TINY (!) world

you'll probably know by now I enjoy amazing works of others that are unique in this world, well: I've stumbled across something again that just blew my mind! It's the work of Willard Wigan and what he does is so unbelievable, I cannot comprehend it. And not only does he make such small sculptures, his attention to detail is absolutely ridiculous. Especially considering the tiny scale he works in. It's so small you can only see his work through a microscope.

golfer on the head of a pin, look at that detail!

watch & be humbled (not by me - obviously :D)

I like to share something miniaturewise with you that astounded me, something truly amazing:

"one-of-a-kind masterpiece by artist Paul Gentile. A fully-functional replica of the stunning
1903 Steinway White House grand piano" - Steinway

free printable model links !

Photobucket
source image: Papermau
hi everyone, I have something fun to share that can be used within our hobby or on the side: paper models and links to free (!) patterns of lots of them. From (worn down) cabins, houses, churches, industrial buildings, modern buildings, skyscrapers, to mansions & castles, roman or other monuments, asian buildings, all kinds of verhicles and much more (even a link to patterns of an entire Smithsonian Institute!) in different scales and different skilllevels.

miniature Scene - do not touch

ever had some of your miniatures broken because of actions of others? Or someone picking something up in a less then ideal manner that easily might have gone wrong? I have, damaging a few of my so carefully selfmade items (and a few almost) and I so wish to prevent more of those... And my heart too, raising it's beat to a scary level, sighing in relief when everything is safely in it's place again ;)

so what to do when you expect visitors in your home, when you won't even be there to keep an eye on your precious miniature display so nothing can happen to them?

just let them know to keep their sticky fingers to themselves with a bit of humor!

about miniatures on TV and weeds and stuff

I've been meaning to work on my laptop and/or desk whenever possible, but with all that's going on health- and otherwise I just haven't had or have the possibillities at all anymore and won't have for a while, I'm very sorry to say. The positive in that is that I'm doing what's important for me, my health and my loved ones. For the time being I would like to show you something cool I found last year looking for episodes of CSI with a miniature theme I remembered having watched, when Maria posted about a dollshouse in Dexter.

I found the behind the scenes of those CSI-episodes

fair Arnhem

I went to the fair in the Eusebiuschurch in Arnhem last sunday - the 24th of March - which was a very special and memorable day for me. Since going to a miniaturefair was on my wishlist for a long time, but had'nt been possible for years due to very poor health. What made this day special as well, but in a different way, is that I was able to buy some stunning items from some great artisans and lovely people. A few of those items I just had to show here since I think it's amazing that someone can actually make something so small, but so wonderfull and realistic:
a workbench by Piamini (Serge Piacentino), if you haven't heard of him: he's a great (and charming & enthousiastic) French artist who makes not only beautiful things, but they all actually work! This workbench like a real one is foldable and you can turn the handles in order to move the wooden worktop-parts together or apart... Can you believe something like that? I fell in love instantly!
bowl and vase by Cocky Wildschut, purple glass by Leo Reijnders, knitted socks by Annelies de Kort, eggcup by Stokesay Ware, glass bottle and glass by Gerd Felka, the small wooden vase by Jokra houtdraaiwerk en the larger nut and woodvase is by Gerrit van Werven woodturner
