lucky me!

i was super fortunate to be able to order these magnificent items recently, got them today and I just have to show. I'm especially fond of the lamp, it's from Jim Pounder, made from bronze and called 'Ricardo on a Globe', isn't it stunning? Will be perfect for my Oldtique Store to be! As will the rest. As I said: lucky, LUCKY me!

enchanting times with miniatures chimes

something I love in 1:1, and I just had to make it in 1:12. Started with it & made all the parts quite a long time ago, it 'only' needed assembly. That took some time to figure out. For example how to place the pipes without the threads going through the wooden disc? And is there wire or thread of some kind for hanging the pipes that is thin enough? Unfortunately there wasn't.. even the thinnest yarn looked too massive for what in real life is a thin transparent wire (on the one I used to have that inspired this 1:12 one). But I did find something that turned out to be great for it and is strong too, really closeby actually..... ;) It was still quite a hassle to get it all together, my boyfriend laughed at my repeating 'cursing' as it was really difficult and took me quite some time to do. But I do love it, especially for a first try!

in the bucket

this has just been waiting for a final polish & coat of paint, but I'm going to show it anyway. So there it is, and later I'll put in a photo of the endresult. Because someone that saw it thought it was a cap of a bottle with a metal wire (a compliment I think): it's not, I made it from scratch and was nowhere near as easy to do as it might appear. Don't know if it shows well enough on the picture, but it's tapered, like a real bucket would be.
Bottom I made of the bottom a yakultbottle (because that has that little pointy middle that buckets also have) with a very fine strip of the aluminum of a tealight for the rim of the bottom. I used a plastic sheet for the 'wall' of the bucket that I formed around a simple mold I made from clay, glued together and sanded it very well to get rid of the seem and make the edge of where the 'wall' meets the bottom nice and round and is if it were one. I glued a ring of sheet plastic on top, that I made bigger than necessary and sanding it really well in order to make it fit and let it become a part of the rest of the bucket. And a piece to go around that with the pieces for the holes where the ends of the handle go. The handle is metal wire from my beloved sandwichbagclosethingies, because it so fine. The shammy (='zeem' for Dutch readers, can imagine that many - like me - don't know the english word..) is from a 1:1 one, but then a very thin warn part of it.

a coatrack &some

I recently made this rustic coatrack with 'weathered' wood and 'rusted' brackets (Euro Mini's) & hooks (Chrysnbon). All the other things in the photo were made by me as well. The scarf was a bit of a frustrating story I'm afraid ;). Not being a knitter at all, I wás surprisingly enough able to knit nice and evenly with fine wool and very thin 0,6 mm knittingpens. But I never got to finish a scarf without a slip up at some point and having to start all over again. I tried until twelve or fifteen times and then had enough and made this scarf in an alternative way. It has a bit of a knitted feel to it though I think and looks good enough right?
