staging..

..to see 2 new miniatures in a setting. A perfectly made cocktailglass or chalice of very thin glass with gold and a great porcelain jug with bowl - both from Art of Mini, makers unknown. The cabinet you might remember from my post 'Mock up Oldtique Store', a gift for my birthday last year. I like the style for the store and although it's a bit too orange to my taste, I think it's a nice contrast to my wallpaper and floor.

okay okay, the candalabra really should be kept on the floor at all times.. I had thought it would be nice on a piece of lace on the cabinet, didn't think about it further and hadn't thought of it or noticed it's out of proportion. But hey, can't think of everything and I still like the scene!

I like to pretend the jug&bowl and chalice came as new arrivals in the Oldtique Store..

it's always like being in Hollywood with my scenes :D

so I wrapped the items in some very thin black blotter paper and pretend that's how they came in the boxes (and pretended some more about already discarded the "1:12th bubblewrap", since I don't have that, as I'm pretty sure none of you do ;) ). And the box the jug and bowl came in is out of view too I guess, since the only box I have was too small for them :D

I once made some tiny pricetags on a thin cord I liked to use here (another one is on the large candalabra) so my minicustomers can see what they would have to pay for it: 95 euro's is what one of the tags had and I thought that would be reasonable for this jug&bowl-set. It is after all in mint condition. Obviously, it's brand new, haha

I think this is such a cute set!
a better view of the glass and of course some real flowers to add a nice touch to the scene. It's Baby's Breath (Gypsophila), and was part of a bouquet of 21 georgous long red roses for our 21st anniversary. Looking closer the Baby's Breath reminded me of carnations. And what do you know: when looking for the translation of the Dutch name 'gipskruid', I discover that's no surprise: the Gypsophila is a species within the carnationfamily! I used a larger 1:12 perfumebottle that makes a perfect small vase, some water et presto! Miniflowers are ideal for ministaging and -scenes.

then I'd like to say I'm sorry I've been absent on your blogs, even more than before.. and while I had really looked forward to doing that móre. I would really love to, but haven't been able still. But just know the intention is always and still there, I enjoy it too much. And would love to know what you're all up to and have made! Take care and till later,

  1. So, so gorgeous! The artfully haphazard setup looks like a real antique store, too (and I have seen a lot of antique stores!).

Remember, take care of yourself first! We understand it's not always possible for you to be active online. Good updates are always worth waiting for :)

    1. Hi Magda, I'm glad you like my Oldtique Store ideas. My 'plan' is to do whatever I can whenever I can as always. I'm not able to do what I like and making plans is not really optional, I'm dictated by when I can do something at rare and what kind of thing is possible at that moment, due to serious illness. But I always look at any possibilitie I have. Which can only be something like staging, but is always better than nothing right?!

  3. You don't have miniature bubblewrap? Monique, if anyone can work out how to make miniature bubblewrap it is you =0). Really nice items in your shop - I love that you even think about the packaging and price tags.
I hope you are feeling well and I'm sending a lot of positive vibes your way =0)

    1. Haha, no I don't, crazy right? What's life without bubblewrap, in 1:1 or miniature? Well, I have thought of something that might resemble it, not sure if realistic, but am definitely finding that out someday! Thanks so much for your kind and warm wishes, you're sweet :D I'm doing better since 3 weeks, which is so nice!

  4. Your new chalice is beautiful. It really does look like an antique. Oddly enough, I equally love your shipping box with all the stickers on it. Also the tiny price tag. You always think of the most clever things that add such a realistic quality to your scenes.

    1. It does doesn't it? Thank you Catherine for your kind remarks, that's great to read! It also gives me great pleasure to incorporate things like that and make it more real to me, it's all in the detail I guess, in more ways than one! :)

  5. Beautiful items and scenes! :D I used super thin foam sheet for my bubble wrap approximation in the shipping box I did. Your black paper works well, too. If anyone ever figures out 1:12 scale bubble wrap, I'll be all over it! haaaaaa :D

    1. thanks Brae! I think superthin foam sheet is an excellent alternative, I will look that up, sounds great! I might have thought of a way to resemble it, have to figure out if it actually works though, you'll be seeing it in a post if it does!

  7. Hi Monique!

Haha, handig he?
Ja, grappig he? En we zijn zeker nooit te oud om te leren, ben d'r dol op! Jij fijne week verder nog, hoop dat je lekker kunt genieten van het heerlijke weer en dat je niet wegsmelt, haha!

  12. Hi Monique! What an Incredible vignette you have assembled and with such mouth-watering treasures too! I love the bulk of the candelabra on the table because it really makes you look twice at it! It is Beautiful! But what caught my eye was the cocktail glass... What a Beauty! I also admire the shape of the jug, you certainly know how to obtain the most intriguing inventory for your store Monique and, your future customers will be Very pleased! :))

    1. Thank you Elizabeth, I feel lucky to have such beauties in my posession :) Ah, I guess that's true about the candalabra :D, but I do like it better on the floor though. It's amazing isn't it, and glass is something that we just can't do ourselves can we? And if I could, making something with that kind of quality is a form of art in itself I guess.. I'm glad you think my future customers will be pleased, I like to think so to, it's always great to get some back up on that ;D

  14. Hi Monique, I like the look of your 'oldtique' shop and such delicate pieces, I know what you mean about behind the scenes in Hollywood lol, I do that too as I don't have a finished dolls house to create settings for my pics.
